-How big is it (in terms of file size)? If it's too big, scale it down (try the GIMP's "Optimize for Playback" effect, under Filters > Animation).
-Is it a GIF? If it's really a movie (MPG, AVI, etc), it won't work. A GIF should be fine.

You guys probably wont be looking at this by now... but you need to put it on to the internet... i suggest this site

all you need to do is browse into your computer and select the file, then click upload and it will give you the HTML for it that you can put in your avatar Hope this helps!
