Army League Pre-Season

Post by jedirieb »

The leaders of five armies have come together twice in the past two weeks to discuss plans for this idea. Now, for the first time, you can see it on DVD!

Oops, that was Ebay... Anyways, the leaders from UF, SA, FI, VT, and OB have come together and agreed upon a format for an army league. The idea behind this is to keep our armies active and have fun by constantly warring with each other. Therefore, we made a league, signifying that there would be regular games. However, this league has "special needs", so we had to do everything from scratch. Now that all of this is done, I put it all into a presentable form which you will see below.

To join the army league:
- Army must be able to field team, and must be even number of teams (atleast 6 members).
- Army’s leader/representative must have a valid e-mail address and preferably a YIM.
- Representatives must pass a majority vote to admit an army into the Army League.
Note: If you wish to join during the season, you may have to wait to join, depending on many factors. We want to keep the number of armies participating even at all times during the regular season to avoid bye weeks.

Rules:
TEAMS: Each army will show up with at least 4 players for each match. Players may not be switched in the middle of the game unless someone needs to leave. Teams must switch out at least two players for every match.
LEAGUE MANAGEMENT: The league is managed by all participating armies’ representatives. Representatives discuss and vote on necessary issues to make this league run smoothly. Head organizer organizes meetings.
GAMES & TIMES: Games are at one of three available times: Tuesday at 4:00pm EST, Thursday at 8:00pm EST, or Sunday at 3:00pm EST. Armies must agree upon a time slot before matches can be played. All servers will be password protected. The Commissioner will communicate the server passwords to army representatives. Representatives are responsible for communicating the time of play, the password, and ensuring teams are present. Play will consist of two 15 minute games between teams of four. Army leaders must both agree that they are ready to start the match by saying "GAME ON AT RESTART".
MAPS, SERVERS: Maps will be chosen before the season begins by randomized choice. Each army will get a chance to submit 3 TBM and 3 TS maps for random pickings. Servers will also be decided by rotation prior to the beginning of the season.
LAG / CONNECTION ISSUES: Lag or connection issues should be tested and worked out prior to the start of the game. The two leaders should discuss issues relating to server problems. Once a game has started it must be completed. In case of a server crash mid-game, the score should be noted. A full 15-minute game can then be continued on another server not currently in use, but the score from the aborted game will be added to the new score. If this is not possible, then by mutual agreement of the two leaders, the game may be rescheduled.
SCORING: During the regular season, a match consists of two games. 4 vs 4 and optional 5 vs 5 matches are acceptable, not 5 vs 4. In a 4 vs 3 match, it is optional to sit a man, with no penalty if 4 vs 3 is played. 3 vs 3 may be played or rescheduled, it is the present leaders’ choice. Match play shall be scored as follows:
WW - 4 points
WT - 3 points
WL - 2 points
TT - 2 points
LT - 1 point
LL - 0 points
Screenshots of the game scores should be posted immediately after the match in the screenshot thread.
DISPUTES/CONFLICTS: If a conflict should arise between players/teams, players will notify their leader/representative to address the conflict within 4 hours of the game. If it cannot be resolved, the issue will be brought to the Commissioner. If the Commissioner is unable to resolve the issue or is directly involved in the conflict, then the issue will be presented for a majority vote by all army representatives.
PLAYOFFS: The top four teams will participate in the playoffs. The top team will be seeded to the fourth team, and the second team to the third team. Three games will be played or more until one army wins the best of three games.

Participants: UF, SA, FI, VT, and OB. We are currently looking for a sixth army to join, which would make organization a lot easier. If there is no sixth army that wishes to participate, we will start with five. The deadline to sign up will be July 31[sup]st[/sup] (if you want to sign up, please make sure to have your map selections already picked).

To all participants: Please choose your three TBM and three TS maps to be put into the random draw and send them to Dazzle. Please note that these maps must be in the Mod Pack/Recent Updates, so that everyone will have them. The deadline to get your map selections in will be July 31[sup]st[/sup].

Thank you army leaders for helping to organize this, and thank you Dazzle for doing the "technical stuff". Let's have a fun season everyone.

^ No, I cannot confirm this, because I have no knowledge of any meeting on Saturday. If someone is having one (and I don't know what it would be for), I'm not the one organizing it, nor was I invited.

^ Well, since we agreed upon doing a random picking of the maps before the season starts, and Daz volunteered to do it, there's no need for a meeting. Once all five participants have their maps to Daz, he can set up the matches, and I'll send out an e-mail to all leaders to confirm. I'm e-mailing Daz now to see who hasn't sent their maps in yet, so I can see what timeframe we're on until we start.
